who leaves her home (Boston) to come out west and start her own
practice after her father dies. Arriving in Colorado Springs she
is met by people who "don't want no woman doctor" and has to prove
her self in many ways. She finds a wonderful friend in Charlotte
Cooper, the resident mid-wife who also runs the boarding house.
But when Charlotte dies of a rattlesnake bite, Dr. Mike takes on
her three children Matthew (Chad Allen), Colleen (Erika Flores,
later Jessica Bowman), and Brian (Shawn Toovey) and has much to
learn about being a mother.
